Tolu Arokodare emerged as Ajax’s key figure as the Nigerian striker helped the Dutch giants rescue a crucial draw against Excelsior in Saturday night’s Eredivisie clash.

Julian Brandt gave Ajax the lead two minutes after the half-hour mark.

The visitors, however, rallied, with Lennard Hartjes netting the equaliser in first-half stoppage time.

Excelsior took the lead for the first time in the game through Aymen Sliti in the 62nd minute.

Tolu Arokodare Inpact in Their Game

Tolu Arokodare made an instant impact for Ajax, coming off the bench to replace Kasper Dolberg before firing home in the 64th minute to bring his side level.

It was the Nigeria international’s sixth goal across all competitions for the Dutch giants this season.

Ajax remain in second position with 14 points from seven matches.

Michel’s side will host NEC Nijmegen in their next league game on Saturday, October 10.
